Episode 158: Meat, Socks, and Puppetry Aplenty

Your Scope hosts return in triumphant fashion, gabbing about all things Dr. Who, Wikipedia, and John Stewart vocabulary. Of course, it wouldn’t be a completely satisfying first show of the cycle if it didn’t include Adam’s fantastic take on the latest news events across the world of popular culture. (You’ll just have to listen and/or watch to find out if that did indeed happen. But here’s a subtle hint: yes, it did happen.)

So get to digesting the latest Scope show. We promise it won’t cause any new-media indigestion.

The Scope episode 158 used “grist to the mill” properly in a sentence and it couldn’t be prouder.

Instant Movie Review: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

In the latest Scope movie review, Jared and Shane grab their arrows and tridents while checking out The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Will this white-hot sequel top the original or will it leave your Scope hosts feeling like Haymitch Abernathy after a he consumes far too much Capitol ale?

Make sure to download the podcast or watch video review to find out!

The Scope The Hunger Games: Catching Fire instant review is sad Jen didn’t have enough time to talk to us on the red carpet. But at least her new pixie haircut is super cute!

Instant Movie Review: Saving Mr. Banks

The Scope’s latest entry in our vast library of film reviews is Saving Mr. Banks, a story that tells the “true” tale of how Mary Poppins became a big hit movie for Walt Disney and his cartoon mouse empire.

Saving Mr. Banks has a terrific pedigree (it stars Emma Thompson and Sir Thomas Hanks as Walt himself) but can it overcome sentimentality, alterations to the real story of P. L. Travers’ dislike of the Disney Machine, and Colin Farrell playing a nutty, drunky, outbacky turn of the century dad?

Why don’t you download, listen, and watch Jared and Shane tell you what’s what?

The Scope Saving Mr. Banks instant review needs at least two spoonfuls of sugar (and a beer chaser) to help the medicine go down.

Instant Movie Review: The Book Thief

Adam rolls solo for a review of The Book Thief. True to form, he manages to exhibit the proper amount of disdain for the format of the show. But did he like the movie? One can never tell with him.

Episode 157: The Butter/Lima Bean Conundrum

Episode 157 of the Scope couldn’t be any more personal. That’s because Jared, Adam, and Shane want to get all of the listeners up to speed on their lives.  You know, it’s the Scope Catch ‘Em Up. But for those of you that aren’t familiar, that means a lot of talk about stand-up comedy, Puck Packs, Power Wheels, and weird non-interactions with the mayor of Minneapolis. And don’t miss an average riff on a pretty funny SNL bit. Although Adam wishes he could.

So start downloading/watching and enjoying the latest Scope content. You owe it to the kids.

The Scope episode 157 shall continue practicing mouth thunder/lightning sound effects.

Scope Special Edition: Scoper Bowl VI

Because you demanded it (did you?) The Scope brings you an event so big, it was six years in the making.

In what seems like nearly an annual tradition, Jared and Shane’s Minnesota Vikings took on Adam’s Washington Football Team in a battle so epic, your Scope hosts had to watch it live at Metrodome and record all for your listening pleasure.

That means plenty of yelling, taunting, poor football analysis, and bipolar behavior from Shane. So, yes, pretty much everything you’d expect from something like this.

So please, watch and/or listen to the most special of special Scope events. Isn’t it worth it just to hear Adam’s disgust and disappoint?

Of course it is.

The Scope Special Edition: Scoper Bowl VI will throw as many paper airplanes as it can until the fuzz come to ruin all the fun.

Episode 156: Black Eyes, Mike Hunt and Nap Music

You demanded it and the Scope listened! Yes, music correspondent Al returns to the program after a (far too) long absence.  This time around, Al helps the gang get all caught up on the latest cool music of 2013. Al wasn’t prepared, however, to go under a bit of the Scope Nerd Degree. You’ll just have to listen/watch to find out how that all went down. But let’s just say we learned about Al’s love of sausage, among many sorid details.

So stop reading and start getting at the latest edition of the Scope. The future of entertainment awaits!

The Scope episode 156 might invest in Shut Up Cuts while placing cold steaks on its bruised face.
