October 15, 2013 | Posted by: The Scope
Awards season is heating up, and one film with some buzz — at least for actor Benedict Cumberbatch as Julian Assange — is The Fifth Estate. Directed by Bill Condon, this film examines the genesis of Wikileaks. Jared rolls solo in tackling this review for the Fall Film Flam. Can he manage? We’ll release all the facts and let you make an informed decision.
The Scope The Fifth Estate knows now you should probably google what the first through third estates are.

Episode 154: Learning To Love Mashed Potatoes (And Girls)
October 14, 2013 | Posted by: The Scope
Episode 154 of The Scope brings a brand-new segment to the show: The Scope’s One To Grow On. You’ll find out what things Jared, Adam, and Shane hated as kids but grew to appreciate in their old age. And, in another revelatory admission, Adam describes his newest secret food podcast. FYI: it’s only about scoopable edibles. (Adam, that might be a little…specific for the average fan. Just saying.)
As always, please be good fans and watch this episode. Or listen to this episode. Please, just digest it in some way. It’s really important. The fate of the world depends on it. Thank you and good night.
The Scope episode 154 must book Adam’s mom as a guest immediately.

Instant Movie Review: Machete Kills
October 11, 2013 | Posted by: The Scope
Machete returns in Machete Kills! Danny Trejo is back to scowl his way through another Robert Rodriguez film as the titular unstoppable hero, and Jared and Shane were there to witness the carnage. Machete is joined by a bunch of Rodriguez regulars in an adventure that is sure to slice its way through the bounds of credibility. Just watch out for helicopter blades.
The Scope Machete Kills review will definitely tweet — unlike Machete.

Episode 153: Lovin’ The ‘Kutch At The Nerd Roundtable
October 7, 2013 | Posted by: The Scope
In the latest installment of The Scope, Jared, Adam, and Shane geek it up with another edition of The Nerd Roundtable. Find out what the guys think of GTA, Apple, and parties celebrating getting old. As an added bonus, Shane breaks out his famous “puppy drinking water” imitation and begs Jared’s boss for some phone upgradage. Yes, it’s a jam-packed show to be sure. Make sure you check it out IMMEDIATELY. Adam’s self esteem depends on it.
The Scope episode 153 wouldn’t feed peanuts to elephants.

Instant Movie Review: Captain Phillips
October 4, 2013 | Posted by: The Scope
The Fall Film Flam rolls on with a lovable family tale of high-seas piracy, Captain Phillips. Tom Hanks tackles the titular role and a New Hampshire accent in this ripped-from-the-headlines true story directed by Paul Greengrass. Will Captain Phillips survive? Spoiler alert: he does. Told you it was true story.
The Scope Captain Phillips review always tells its crew to enjoy their coffee.

Episode 152: Poppin’ Ps with Steve Jabs
September 30, 2013 | Posted by: The Scope
The brave pod/videocasting experiment pushes forward with another brand-new edition. This time around, Jared, Adam, and Shane try desperately to keep the show short…with mixed results. But they are completely successful in covering all of the nerd news fit to print. And that, and the end of the day, is all that really matters.
Don’t take our word for it. Watch and/or listen (or even better, do both!) and find out for yourselves.
The Scope episode 152 is a big fan of the hot new band, Professor Cat.

Instant Movie Review: Gravity
September 27, 2013 | Posted by: The Scope
You want more Scope Fall Film Flam? You get more Scope Fall Film Flam.
This time around, Jared and Shane take in a sneak preview of a movie that’s getting a lot of Oscar buzz. The film is Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. These two Hollywood types play astronauts desperately trying to get back to earth after some space junk destroys their shuttle. It’s intense, dramatic, and full of that Dr. Ross Charm™.
If you are wondering what your Scope hosts think of this 3D Sci-Fi spectacular, make sure you listen AND watch this review. Really, the only proper way to enjoy anything Scope-related from now on is to digest it IN EVERY FORMAT POSSIBLE, please. So get to it, fans.
The Scope Gravity instant review will, from now on, carry a fire extinguisher at all times. You just never know…

Instant TV Review: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
September 25, 2013 | Posted by: The Scope
Well, Scope faithful, we are one step closer to Marvel taking over every aspect of popular media culture. First, movies. Now, with the new TV show, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Disney wants to bring the popular super hero universe into your television boxes.
This direct spinoff from the Marvel cinematic universe features the return of fan-favorite Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his quest to put together a super-awesome spy team determined to save the world every week. And who better to review this eagerly-anticipated program than two real-world super heroes, Jared and Shane? The answer: No One.
So watch and/or listen as your Scope hosts give an instant reaction to the Joss Whedon-directed pilot. You may even learn a thing or two. (Okay, not two. We’ll stick with one.)
The Scope Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. instant review lost the keys to the flying car. Guess we’re hoofing it.

Instant Movie Review: Don Jon
September 23, 2013 | Posted by: The Scope
What do you get when you mix autumn movies, tons of porn and uncomfortable sex scenes, and crazy Jersey accents? You get Jared & Shane’s review of Don Jon, the latest entry in The Scope’s Fall Film Flam.
Yes, Joseph Gordon-Levitt wants to be a triple threat (he writes, directs, and stars in Don Jon) and he’s not afraid to tackle some, let’s say, difficult subject matter. But the true test will be if your Scope hosts totally dig what JGL, Scarlett Johansson, and Julianne Moore are doing in this wacky little picture. Oh, did anyone mention Tony Danza’s in it, too? Well, he is. That alone is something you don’t see everyday.
So why don’t you get to watching/listening/downloading the latest review already? Enlightenment and a lot of sexy talk is waiting.
The Scope Don Jon Instant Review isn’t slamming much of anything.

Instant Movie Review: Prisoners
September 18, 2013 | Posted by: The Scope
We dip into The Scope reserve forces to enlist guest host Earl to help review the latest entry in the Fall Film Flam, Prisoners. This film has everything: Hugh Jackman sporting dad hair, Jake Gyllenhaal forgetting to do laundry, Melissa Leo brewing her own root beer, Terrence Howard never getting to wear the War Machine armor, Maria Bello taking a nap, and Paul Dano’s right eye. Is the whole better than the sum of these parts? Tune in to find out!
The Scope Prisoners review would never make an intern read pretentious remarks about our artistic intent before each episode.
