October 23, 2014 | Posted by: The Scope
Oscar season may have kicked off with Michael Keaton’s new film, Birdman. And your Scope crew (sans Adam) are right on it, reviewing the heck out of the movie.
Birdman tells the tale of a washed up movie star who gambles everything on a Broadway play in which he wrote, directed, and starred. And, just for fun, he’s being followed/taunted by Birdman, the superhero he played (with great financial success) twenty years earlier. Yeah, this guy might be a little nuts.
That’s just one part of this complicated and intriguing film. But the real question is this: did The Scope like it? Well, get to clicking and find out already!
The Scope Birdman movie review is waiting for a Birdman song parody (done to the tune of Spoonman, of course.)

Episode 192: Better Know The Band Lesser Knowns
October 20, 2014 | Posted by: The Scope
It’s been four years since the band Lesser Knowns appeared on The Scope. A lot’s happened since then (like four whole seasons of Big Brother) so it seemed about time to check in with the fellas from Massachusetts. Find out about their new music, their songwriting process, and which one of the guys bought an N*SYNC album. It’s compelling (and potentially embarrassing) stuff, to be sure.
Even without Adam on board for this show (he’s probably too busy practicing his choreographed wedding hip-hop routine) it’s a winner. Get to watching/listening to it now, won’t you?
The Scope episode 192 wonders if there is such a thing as a Dended Washington.
For more from Lesser Knowns, check out their website, listen to their music, and like them on Facebook.

Episode 191: Are There Raisins in the Carrot Cake?
October 13, 2014 | Posted by: The Scope
Episode 191 of The Scope puts host Adam under the gun with tons of wedding reception talk. Did you know he’s going to have four kinds of cake? Well, now you do. Tune in to find out even more fun facts about his upcoming life-changing event.
If that weren’t enough, your Scope hosts review a handful of new Fall TV Shows! From superheroes to scorpions to guys named ‘Dre, they’ve got you covered. Someday, all of those shows will be available for home release, right?
The Scope episode 191 can’t wait for an ultra-serious Tin Cup film.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Judge
October 8, 2014 | Posted by: The Scope
Downey Jr. and Duvall. Jared and Shane. Two epic pairs…one pair acted in the film The Judge, the other pair reviewed it. Put all four men together in one Scope movie review…well, now you’ve got magic. But does that magic translate into a watchable movie? Listen/watch and find out.
(PS no it does not.)
The Scope The Judge movie review doesn’t mind sitting in the V.I.P. section at the movie theater.

The Scope episode 190 really needs a shucking glove.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Equalizer
September 25, 2014 | Posted by: The Scope
Denzel Washington joins the pantheon of “very capable men” films with Antione Fuqua’s The Equalizer. He also survives what is probably the most epic example of cool guys don’t look at explosions. Does that add up to a watchable film? Perhaps.
The Scope The Equalizer review has read only six of the 100 books you’re supposed to read.

Episode 189: The Scope’s What If? – Iron Man 1989
September 22, 2014 | Posted by: The Scope
In the most high-concept edition of The Scope yet, Jared, Adam, and Shane ask the question: If Marvel started their cinematic universe in 1989 to compete with Warner Brothers’ Batman, who would have been cast in the Iron Man ’89 film? It’s something that requires a lot of thought, a lot of research, and a lot less Morgan Freeman than Adam imagined.
Bonus: because the Scope crew is casting the entire first two phases of the MCU, that means tons of built-in show topics for the next couple of months. Now your Scope crew can be creative and lazy, all at the same time!
The Scope episode 189 would never cast Paul Hogan as Pepper Potts (at least two members of the podcast wouldn’t.)

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Hector and the Search for Happiness
September 19, 2014 | Posted by: The Scope
Hector (Simon Pegg) is unhappy. Or he’s not sure what happiness is. In either case, he leaves his girlfriend (Rosamund Pike) at home while he galavants around the globe searching for happiness in Hector and the Search for Happiness. I suppose the title sufficiently explained that part. Anyway, listen in to find out if he and your Scope crew find said same happiness.
The Scope Hector and the Search for Happiness review would never let a little kidnapping and near murder scar us for life.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: This Is Where I Leave You
September 16, 2014 | Posted by: The Scope
Batemen. Fey. Fonda. Driver. Byrne. Stoll. Hahn. Britton. Olyphant. Shepard. Schwartz. It’s not the cast for the Expendables 14, it’s the cast of the family dramedy This Is Where I Leave You from director Shawn Levy. Do all these names add up to a whole lot of entertainment? Listen in as Jared and guest host Erin break it down.
The Scope This Is Where I Leave You review always checks its coat pockets for weed.

Episode 188: The 2014 Fall TV Preview
September 15, 2014 | Posted by: The Scope
It’s the episode everyone has been waiting for! Yes, Jared, Adam, and Shane make a valiant attempt to cover the upcoming fall TV season. While the guys spend a chunk of time on all the new comic book-based TV shows (gotta appeal to the base) they also take a minute to cover their all-time favorite genre, romantic twenty-something in-the-city comedies.
Sounds like it’s going to be one heck of a time to watch TV, isn’t it?
The Scope episode 188 knows if you can’t say it you can’t play it.
