Under The Scope | Movie Review: Project Almanac

In this, the latest Scope movie review, Jared and Shane tackle the Michael Bay produced teen-time travel and oft delayed motion picture, Project Almanac. This found footage film tells the story of a group of high school seniors who create a time machine and then go and muck up the space-time continuum. (Editor’s note: the word “time” was used three times in two sentences. Too much?)

Find out if your Scope hosts can make sense of the movie’s science, if they’d do anything for love, and if they can figure out where the movie’s main character’s mother disappeared to for most of the film. It’s high brow stuff.

The Scope Project Almanac review knows an XBOX-360’s graphic processor would never really be able to power a time machine. How bush league.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Kingsman: The Secret Service

2015 is here and so is the first Scope movie review of the year! This time around, Jared and Shane spill all the beans about the Matthew Vaughn directed film, Kingsman: The Secret Service. This comic book movie (based off the Mark Millar comic, The Secret Service) stars a regal Colin Firth, a distinguished Michael Caine, and a zany Samuel L. Jackson.

And some punk named Taron.

So does this movie have what it takes to live up to the not-too-shabby comic? Does it have the power to stand up on its own? Well, why don’t you listen/watch the latest little ditty from your friends at The Scope and find out?

The Scope Kingsman: The Secret Service review questions Sam Jackson’s decision to talk in a goofy lisp. Sorry, Mr. Jackson.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Hobbit – The Battle of the Five Armies

You asked for three Hobbit films; you get three Hobbit films. Did you ask? Regardless, the third in a series of three is upon us. Martin Freeman and the whole gang are back to witness THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES. Five armies will do battle. Then we close things out with a very special episode of Auction Kings.

The Scope The Hobbit – The Battle of the Five Armies review could have named that tune in three armies.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

While The Scope may not be the first to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 review party (we like to think of it as being fashionably late) we still made it nonetheless. And you can count on Jared and Shane’s take on Katniss further adventures to be the definitive review on the internet.

Period.

(How’s that for unabashed hubris?)

At any rate, the review is ready for you, the Scope superfan. And if you aren’t a Scope superfan, you will be after you watch/listen to this.

Period.

The Scope The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 review doesn’t look good in a baggy, militaristic jump suit.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Theory of Everything

Even on an unseasonably cold November evening, your Scope hosts have enough gumption and fortitude to head to the cinema when the moment requires it. This time around, Jared and Shane reviewed The Theory of Everything.

This movie tells the story of some lady named Jane and another dude named Hawking or something who may be really smart about science and stuff. And there may be some really good acting performances. It is that time of year, isn’t it? (And it’s also time for you to watch and/or listen to this review immediately. Get to it!)

The Scope The Theory of Everything review sorta looks like Bill Gates, too.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Dumb and Dumber To

It’s been 20 years since Harry and Lloyd graced the screen with a mind-boggling display of mental deficiency. Now, Peter and Bobby Farrelly bring back Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels to till familiar ground with Rob Riggle and Andrea from The Walking Dead. Does this sequel soar, or is it dumb on arrival? You’ll have listen to find out what we think.

The Scope Dumb and Dumber To review is a champion Funnel Nuts player.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Birdman

Oscar season may have kicked off with Michael Keaton’s new film, Birdman. And your Scope crew (sans Adam) are right on it, reviewing the heck out of the movie.

Birdman tells the tale of a washed up movie star who gambles everything on a Broadway play in which he wrote, directed, and starred. And, just for fun, he’s being followed/taunted by Birdman, the superhero he played (with great financial success) twenty years earlier. Yeah, this guy might be a little nuts.

That’s just one part of this complicated and intriguing film. But the real question is this: did The Scope like it? Well, get to clicking and find out already!

The Scope Birdman movie review is waiting for a Birdman song parody (done to the tune of Spoonman, of course.)

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Judge

Downey Jr. and Duvall. Jared and Shane. Two epic pairs…one pair acted in the film The Judge, the other pair reviewed it. Put all four men together in one Scope movie review…well, now you’ve got magic. But does that magic translate into a watchable movie? Listen/watch and find out.

(PS no it does not.)

The Scope The Judge movie review doesn’t mind sitting in the V.I.P. section at the movie theater.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Equalizer

Denzel Washington joins the pantheon of “very capable men” films with Antione Fuqua’s The Equalizer. He also survives what is probably the most epic example of cool guys don’t look at explosions. Does that add up to a watchable film? Perhaps.

The Scope The Equalizer review has read only six of the 100 books you’re supposed to read.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Hector and the Search for Happiness

Hector (Simon Pegg) is unhappy. Or he’s not sure what happiness is. In either case, he leaves his girlfriend (Rosamund Pike) at home while he galavants around the globe searching for happiness in Hector and the Search for Happiness. I suppose the title sufficiently explained that part. Anyway, listen in to find out if he and your Scope crew find said same happiness.

The Scope Hector and the Search for Happiness review would never let a little kidnapping and near murder scar us for life.
